Kaumātua Energy is a Northland-based, community-focused energy company dedicated to bringing cheaper, cleaner power to our local communities—especially our kaumātua (elders aged 65+). We’re building a solar rooftop farming network to make sustainable energy accessible and affordable for everyone.

All customers receive competitive electricity pricing. While our solar farms are still in development, we're offering an interim 10% discount to elders aged 65 and over, directly from our own pocket. Once the solar projects go live, eligible kaumātua will receive a 30% discount funded by our solar buyback model.

We’re also offering a $100 joining credit, with an additional $50 bonus for Kaumātua, spread over the first two months of your account. These benefits are available with a 12-month term commitment.

We currently serve households across Northland, with plans to expand further. Anyone living in our service region—whether you own your home or rent—can sign up.

No, you don’t need to install any solar panels. Our shared solar farms generate power for the wider community, and we pass the savings on to our customers—especially our kaumātua.

The 30% discount for elders will begin once our solar farms are operational. Until then, a 10% discount is provided directly by Kaumātua Energy as part of our commitment to supporting our elders.

New customers receive a $100 joining credit, and elders aged 65+ receive an extra $50 bonus—both applied over the first two monthly invoices. This credit is available to customers who commit to a 12-month term.

We're 100% locally owned and focused on community wellbeing—not corporate profits. We reinvest into the region through solar infrastructure, fairer pricing, and energy support for vulnerable households.

Once operational, the excess solar energy sold back to the grid will generate revenue used to fund discounts for kaumātua and support community energy initiatives.

You can join online or by calling our local team. We’ll handle the switch for you—there’s no disruption to your power and no joining fee.

To receive the joining credit and discounted rates, customers agree to a 12-month term. There are no hidden fees, and our goal is to make energy simple, fair, and community-driven.

Absolutely. Businesses that offer roof space for solar panels benefit from discounted energy and receive a portion of the revenue from any excess solar sold back to the grid.

Our support team is based right here in Northland. You can reach us by phone, email, or through our website—we’re here to help.
